Porcelain Crowns, Veneers & Bridges
Porcelain Crowns
Yes, a crown is an odd name to describe a dental treatment, but here it goes! A porcelain crown is one of the best ways to rebuild a badly broken down tooth. It can also help to improve the appearance of an unsightly tooth.
A crown is made by a technician, outside of the mouth and then cemented onto your tooth. A few appointments are needed to complete the treatment, but the result is a very strong tooth which is capable of heavy duty chewing for many years to come.
A porcelain crown falls under complex dental or major dental under most private health insurance policies. We are able to perform a quote at Corio Central Dental, using your dental insurance card, to let you know whether there will be a rebate from your health insurance provider.
Porcelain Bridge
A dental bridge spans a gap over missing tooth/teeth in between remaining teeth. This is a permanent solution to replace a missing tooth/teeth and does not need to be removed (at night or after eating, like a denture/plate does). The remaining teeth on either side of the gap are prepared and a mould of the mouth is taken. This mould is used to design and construct the final porcelain bridge.
A bridge is made in a dental laboratory, outside of your mouth and then cemented onto your teeth. A few appointments are needed to complete the treatment. Once inserted, a dental bridge forms a strong chewing unit. Appearance is also to a very high standard.
Cost of a dental bridge depends on how many missing teeth it will replace: eg 1, 2 or 3 etc. Generally, this treatment option to replace missing tooth/teeth is less expensive than an implant and no surgery is required.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin facings, made to fit over your natural teeth. They are attached to the front surface of front teeth to correct the shape/angulation/colour of your natural teeth. They are often used for a smile makeover.
The cost of porcelain veneers depends on how many teeth would be involved in treatment and the condition of your natural teeth.
Usually the front upper 6 teeth comprise the most noticeable component of your "smile". Some patients prefer to have veneers over the top 8 teeth, for a seamless look.
We believe that Corio Central Dental offers some of the best cosmetic dental work in Geelong. We would love to help you create a smile you can be excited about.
